Pausing to pick up small stones

Sunday, September 21, 2014

The bunches of yellow flower
each with a slight lean
resemble miniature trees

A criss-cross of lines with little bumps
Apricot blossom shadows on the fence

Tufts of grass
around the water meter
A mohawk
along black plastic edging

A shadow of fan-tail and wings
does a quick loop
on the corrugated iron fence

Bright orange circle eye
Framed by shiny green leaves

One daughter responds with a sleepy 'good morning'
The other snores

The floral sculpture
smaller than I imagined
from seeing the photograph
